How I Manifested My Dream Income Even When I Hated Manifestation & How You Can Too

These are some of the words that used to crack the nuts out of me. I am a big believer in God but I never accepted that something like the Law of Attraction could work.

One of the reasons why I never believed in manifestation and the law of attraction was because I read ‘The Secret’ book. I used to think that people who believe in manifestation are the most stupid people in the world who think without WORKING some random spirit will make their desires come true. The reason is that ‘The Secret’ book is an exaggerated version written to make money and sell a fake promise. When you are stuck in your life and all the doors seem to be closed, it is likely that you will accept anything people say.

Now, you must be thinking if I hated the law of attraction so much then how did I end up being a believer and how did things fall into my favor even when I didn’t ask anything directly from the Universe.

Well, let’s see my journey which involves the lessons that you can use to manifest your dream income too so read extra carefully.

I started this year-2022 with just a goal in my mind- I want to make X amount of money by the end of the six months of 2022. I was really passionate, aggressive, and determined to achieve this goal purely because I had a little seed of comparison in my mind with all the other freelancers and influencers who were earning 6 figures even though they started either after me or with me.

I started my career in 2020 as a freelance writer when I was in college but freelancing didn’t turn out well for me and I ended up going for a job that I left by the way within 2.5 months and the second job within 4 months. Yes, you can question my consistency. In my defense, I would say that both the job were quite toxic for me and they were paying me barely anything to keep me excited every day. If I remember correctly, my first job paid me $250 while the second one paid only $200.

Did you see it? Not my fault!

And after leaving both of my jobs in 2021, I decided to focus yet again on freelancing and growing my Instagram page (where I now have 40+ book lovers)

Result?

Instagram was quite loving to me and my page started growing but I was still having a really hard time finding the clients.

Guess what happened next?

No, I didn’t challenge myself as David Goggins did rather I ignored how slow I was moving forward. Things were on the same page for quite a long time and then 2022 started and I made that goal.

Well, to be very honest, I was really excited to achieve my goal of making X amount of money because somehow, I was really confident that I would be able to make it happen.

So, in the first month of 2022 January, I took a planner and wrote down my target of earning money in all the possible ways. I didn’t start with the targeted X amount but I rather gave myself a smaller amount to achieve with the thought that every month, I will increase my target a little to finally achieve the X figure by the end of June 2022.

Guess what happened?

Although, I had these huge plans and ideas to work on yet I never took action on any of them. For the first 2 months, I was dedicated enough but after seeing no exceptional results, I started falling behind. Even though I was making and writing these plans/ideas, I wasn’t taking action on any of them. Do you know why?

Because I was motivated by MONEY. At the beginning of every month in that ‘extreme motivation’, I ended up making huge commitments to myself which apparently, I never achieved in any month right from January to June 2022.

Result?

I wasn’t working as hard as I should have yet somehow, I felt that I am working harder but getting nothing in hand. Probably because I was working hard only in my mind.

I started spending a lot of time on Instagram as my escape and boom! Seeing how other mates are earning and making it big on social media made me the most PATHETIC version of myself. Though, I always thought that I don’t compare my life with those ‘perfect looking’ people on ‘Instagram’ I ended up doing exactly that.

So, here is what happened to sum it all up:

1. I started my career 2 years back but seeing others I started believing that my 2 years were a complete waste because I am not making as much as THEM.
2. I was so focused and furious and desperate to achieve my x amount of target by the end of six months that I completely lost almost 4 months of 2022 in comparison, self-loathing, self-doubt, self-pity, and jealousy that I even forgot ‘what am I doing with my life’
3. I started judging myself, my growth, and my talent based on how much money I was making.

However, just a month ago in May 2022 when one of my clients terminated the contract with me, I felt devastated. I felt as if I am suddenly in the middle of nowhere because I used to make good money from his project.

And then there I was! Yet once again, I first put the blame on my bad fate, then on everyone else, and thought ‘I can never achieve this target’

However, that’s when the game changed. When my client dropped, I was so disappointed that I couldn’t hold myself together and think straight so then I decided to write down what was happening to me.

I wrote down everything right from January to May 2022, what I felt, how things went from ‘achieving my big goals’ to ‘finding myself comparing with others and self-loathing’

I wrote till my hands were not able to write another further.

Result?

I realized that I was so focused and desperate to earn x amount of money that I completely forgot to enjoy what I do, love what I write, and think of how I can help others.

I realized that my goal was x amount of money which when I couldn’t accomplish, I judged myself and that’s when all the fun and love and joy and enjoyment disappeared from my life.

After writing the letter, I threw it out in the dustbin and wrote another letter to my God. I wrote that,

God, forgive me for ignoring to love the skill and blessings you have showered on me. Not many can read in this world, fewer people are fortunate to love reading, and even more, not everyone can write that inspires people. I disrespected the blessings you gave and now I am ready to walk on your guided path. I will write not to make money (which I actually don’t from Medium) but I will write to inspire people, to find joy in what I do, to love my work irrespective of the money I make, and to teach people how they should too.

What happened after this letter?

Nothing! Absolutely nothing happened. Financially, I was stable but not even close to my set target yet somehow, I found peace, clarity, and confidence in what I wanted to do in life and how much I love my work.

Result?

Even though I didn’t have much work till May, I got insanely great opportunities in June 2022 when June is not yet finished. People out of nowhere started contacting me to work for them and not just small clients but the big ones too. And now before the end of June 2022, I am making more than my set target.

Now, you must be thinking how did this magic happen, right?

Well, I first thought it was all a coincidence but then I read a book on manifestation where the author had mentioned that when you do your work with the energy of love and joy, the Universe/God/Spirit/Angel or whatever you call it aligns with you and they give you everything you want in your life. However, when your energy is negative like comparison, jealousy and self-doubt then The Universe will never bless you with what you want.

Now, there are two reasons why this happens:

1. Let’s say that I gave you a gift on your birthday and instead of keeping it with love, you threw it into the dustbin and said how useless this stupid gift is while I saw this happening in front of my eyes. What do you think I would feel? Or how would you feel if someone disrespects the love or any gift you give to them? You will feel angry or maybe sad or maybe you will decide not to talk to that person ever again in your life.

I guess the Universe works that way too. The Universe has given you some gifts that if you disrespect, you grow the distance between you and the Universe which is why you never get what you want.

2. Close your eyes and try to come up with the name of one person you hate most in your life. Tell me why do you hate them? If I talk about myself, I hate many people so having a hard time coming up with one name but the point is, I hate all of them either because of how bad they make me feel or because of their negative behavior towards everything like comparison, complaining, etc.

I believe the Universe doesn’t want to be around people who have negative vibes and are always complaining about something in some way or the other.

Instead of thinking of the Universe as some confusing concept, think of it as an invisible person walking beside you. This invisible person doesn’t have a body so they can connect with you solely on the basis of your vibration, your energy, or your inner feelings. If your feelings are negative, the invisible person feels attacked while if your feelings are positive, the Universe always wants to be with you.

Ending this one actionable steps, I would highly suggest you do the below steps to manifest the income you have been dreaming about:

1. Stop comparison, jealousy, self-loathing, self-pity, or any other negative emotion you carry inside you.

2. Write a letter to the Universe explaining everything you are going through and be as vulnerable as possible. Don’t fear judgments because they are not any.

3. Write another letter to tell the Universe how grateful you are for the gifts you have been blessed with. Make the Universe feel loved, and respected.

4. When you work or think of work, do it with pure love and joy. Never force yourself to do anything just because you want to be productive.

5. Use positive affirmations in your day like, I want money in abundance and I know Universe you will guide me. Using the abundance is necessary. Most people use a particular sum like I want to make $2000/month or anything like that but I guess that doesn’t work best as you can ask for as much as you think is possible but the Universe can give you more than you can possibly think of because the Universe has everything in abundance so ask in abundance. If you see my story, when I stopped asking for a particular sum, I received more than I thought.

6. Have patience and be aware enough to read the signs of the Universe.
