I Took One Challenge For 24 Hours & It Is Changing My Life In Unexpected Ways
I have read more than 200 books in the past 2 years and voila! I don’t remember everything that I read in those books. Looking at my bookshelf makes me wonder ‘Did I waste my time if I don’t remember what I read?’
Well, the answer was Yes and No.
Allow me to explain.
So, I have read mostly self-help books and as per the unsaid rule, Self-help books should be read if you want to HELP yourself, not just read, and forget all those giant advice or techniques or hacks that a typical self-help book shares.
In my case, I realized that self-help books are not about remembering what you read because OMG! You can find life-changing advice anywhere on YouTube/ Medium/Instagram/Twitter or platforms like these.
Self-help books or the self-improvement content that you read, listen or watch is about IMPLEMENTATION. If you don’t implement what you consume then you are just creating a dead hole for yourself.
Not knowing what you need to do to change your life is one thing. But knowing what you need to do yet not DOING anything to actually transform your life is pathetic. It creates a negative image in your mind about yourself. Your brain or should I say your deeper inner self makes a belief that ‘you don’t want to change your life or that you don’t care about yourself enough to do something to change your life’
And then no matter how many videos you watch on self-love, you cannot change this negative self-image. I am speaking from my personal observation. I have everything in my life, be it a good family or financial independence. Everything is sorted yet I used to feel a void in me. I am loved on every platform but I still speak negatively about myself at times.
WHY?
Because I was reading books on fitness but I still stuff myself with burgers/pizza and oh god, fries are love.
I read books like Rich Dad Poor Dad and The Psychology of Money but I was not investing my money.
In short, I knew things needed to be changed, I knew how to change but I was not doing anything to change them.
