And how to get out of this dark space

September is suicide prevention month. A time when you, if you have a platform, create awareness, and hope among those who have gone so far away into the dark corridors of their minds that they have lost the will to live.

But do you know what I think?

Not everyone with a platform or voice should talk about suicide. People, however smart or well-educated they are, should shut up if they haven’t experienced something they are talking about. Otherwise, your voice may become the reason why someone feels even more depressed.

Do you know why I say that?

Because I used to be one of those people who believed nothing could be as bad as it is in your mind. And that if you try, you will find a solution, a hope to live on. You should be grateful for what you have in the moment. I was the one who thought, if people tried harder, they could get out of depression, and overthinking only happens when you don’t trust yourself, your life, or, in some cases God.

Then, life happened to me. It kicked me. It pulled me back. It made me a prisoner in my body and a stranger in my mind. It stripped off everything from me that I loved until I didn’t know what to live for, and most importantly, why.
