Freelancing, what comes to your mind when you think of this famous word? Let me tell you what I used to think freelancing is:

‘Once I step into freelancing, I will be earning in 6 figures while being my own boss, doing what I like, and traveling all around the country’

I must say I am the QUEEN when it comes to building false imaginary castles in my mind.

In reality, almost 1.5 years ago when I left my job thinking that freelancing was the way to go, I was welcomed with frustration, self-doubt, an empty bank account, and self-loathing.

I tried almost every technique to attract clients, from Fiverr to building my brand on LinkedIn. Unfortunately, nothing was working. I was desperate to find clients and when I found myself completely off track, I even took the gigs where I was paid peanuts. I was growing more depressed that I was almost on the verge of giving up everything and taking any job that comes my way.

However, the Universe had its own plans.

Meaning?

I came across a LinkedIn course (I bought it immediately without even reading the entire ad) and I was trained by LinkedIn experts for a whole month. Result?

I started implementing the strategies and tried my hands out on the platform. Although the strategies that I learned were all available on YouTube yet somehow, I gained the confidence to fight back.

After trying, researching, and digging deeper into the platform, I got to know the entire ABCD of the platform and the SECRET strategies that all the EXPERTS on LinkedIn are using.

When I started applying those secret unspoken techniques myself, I was getting higher-paying clients without having thousands of followers.

Here are 3 lessons I learned from Cash It On LinkedIn and why you should read the book:

1. Remove the Aliens from Your World:

Consider LinkedIn another planet where your target audience and aliens (people who don’t belong to your industry), both coexist. Now, the reason your content was getting no likes and comments was simply that you were creating it for aliens.

For example: Let’s assume that you are a writer and you are creating content around how you started your journey as a writer, what are the tips to become an effective writer, or what kind of writing is most in demand. While writing these posts, you knew that they are stuffed with knowledge so it will go viral but in reality, your post barely gets 2–3 likes. The core reason behind this is because you have added aliens in your profile which means your content is showing to people who are neither writers nor they want to hire one.

Taking my personal example ahead, I had 2000 followers on LinkedIn when I took LinkedIn seriously and started creating content. I knew that my content was valuable but it was not getting views so I experimented.

The result was that half of those 2000 followers were aliens (they were not from my niche) so they couldn’t understand what I was sharing, hence they didn’t like it.

When I sit to remove all the unnecessary people or people who didn’t belong to my niche, I found graphic designers and affiliate marketers.

Lesson:

The first task that you need to do before you even start posting content is to REMOVE all the people who don’t belong to your niche.

And after that start sending a personalized request to the experts in your industry. You will learn from Cash it on LinkedIn book how you can become the connection of the experts of your industry rather than just a follower.

2. Be Strategic with Content:

You are not an expert in your industry, or at least that’s not how people know you. When you go on LinkedIn and start posting content as if you have it all figured out and now you are teaching people HOW TO DO IT, that kind of content is going to be ignored.

Do you know why?

Because you don’t exist for people. You are coming out of nowhere and claiming to be an expert. That’s not how you build trust.

Lesson:

No one knows you on LinkedIn. Your existence doesn’t matter to people and that’s the reason you get the bare minimum of likes and comments on your posts. Hence, the first task on your list should be to let people know:

a) Who are you

b) What do you do

c) How you do it

d) How well you do it and

e) Why they should listen to you.

The major mistake that almost everyone makes on LinkedIn is they start posting content randomly without knowing the current stage of themselves on the platform. In Cash it on LinkedIn book, you will get to know what’s your current stage and how you can go from stage A where people don’t know you to the Final Stage where people trust you and consider you an expert.

When you follow the exact content strategies that this book has conveyed and begin your transition, that’s when you start getting clients. That too, the clients will approach you automatically, you don’t have to knock on their DMs.

So, the lesson that you need to keep in mind is to be strategic with content with respect to your current stage on the platform.

If you don’t know how to do that, here is the book you can check out.

3. Go Creative and Wild:

When I started creating content on LinkedIn, I was creating just two kinds of content:

a) Personal stories

b) Tips and Lessons to grow as a writer (again I wasn’t an expert back then as per people so they didn’t pay attention)

Although my personal stories were working quite well. Though, after a point, it got monotonous and my connections realized that I am repeating the same kind of stuff again and again just for reach.

Result?

Now, nothing was working and I was clueless in terms of what I should post that can bring me clients.

Although, after months of experiments and research, I realized that if you want to grow on LinkedIn, you have to be really creative and wild with your content.

Lesson:

You need to create a rainbow with your content calendar where every kind of content is involved. When I say, every kind of content then that doesn’t mean you will post about your wardrobe or how desperate you are to get clients.

Being creative with your content means creating an appropriate combination of all those types of content that work best on LinkedIn. If you don’t know how, here is the book you can check out.

In the Cash It On LinkedIn, you will find everything right from what all types of content work, how many times, and what time you should post along with creating the kind of combination that generates more leads and keeps your feed engaging and interesting.

Why Should You Read Cash It On LinkedIn?

LinkedIn is a goldmine and if you want to have high-paying clients along with a personal brand that speaks for you, I highly suggest you should check out the book. Because going on platforms like Upwork, Fiverr, or indulging in cold emails can be really tiring at times. Besides, these platforms are way too saturated for you to make your name and stand out. Hence, even if you are a complete beginner who doesn’t know how to write a post, then this is the book for you.

It is actionable and provides the examples and resources that will help you to write a post that gets clicks and conversations.
