Why I Minimalized My Wardrobe Into A Carryon

Why you should too

For as long as I can remember, I was an ‘external’ focused person. I was always choosing my words, clothes, and attitude based on what others would want to hear so I could come out as a ‘likable’ person.

Yes, I was stupid!

However, I am not the only stupid. We all are a victim of consumerism which has made us believe that ‘we have to present ourselves in a certain way’ if we want to look good. Because, obviously, if you were fine with wearing what you like, you wouldn’t wear that dress which is designed to make you believe that ‘this dress’ is the only missing piece of puzzle from your life. If you had ‘this new dress’ or ‘that new bag’ or ‘the latest iPhone’ then your life would just be perfect. Everything will make sense.

In very simple words. This is what consumerism looks like. Brands pay marketing companies and models a hefty amount of money to make you believe that to be satisfied, you need to have ‘their new product’ whether it’s a facewash, a new dress, or a new gadget. If you were happy with what you have, you wouldn’t work for what they have to sell.

To make them money, you work hard to buy a product that you never needed.
