You & I Are Beyond the Titles of External World; Here is How You Can Become More Interesting for Yourself
I am an introvert and I find it tough to describe myself in words. If someone asks me, what do you do? I take a pause that lasts longer than a movie break.
I often wonder though, what people mean when they say, what do you do?
Because I do a lot of stuff. I breathe. I laugh. I write. I read. I watch Netflix like it’s my profession. I make drawings even though I suck at them. I eat and I sleep.
But people don’t want to hear that, do they? They want a simple answer which could be, ‘I am an author’
Simple, right?
But here is a problem with it.
When we start defining ourselves with one particular thing, our entire focus revolves around it. And when that one thing goes wrong, we feel like a failure. And it’s not just about the profession but personal relationships as well.
For example; If I say I am an author and actually put it as a label, I will always judge myself based on how many copies of my books have been sold, how many people loved my book, how well I wrote today, and things around it. And if someone doesn’t like my work, does that make me a bad writer?
